What I’m Into – February 2013

what I'm into

I thought I’d participate in Hopeful Leigh’s “What I’m Into” this month. Even though, technically it’s March now. But whatevs. You guys totally care what I’m into, right? Right.

Reading:

Madeleine L’engle. You’re absolutely shocked, right? After simply flying through her Crosswicks Journals and writing a post defending Madeleine’s honor from those who would assign her to Hell, I ordered a copy of Walking on Water: Reflections on Faith and Art. I’m working my way through this one much slower, in part because it’s so darn dense – and I mean that in a good way. I won’t even pick the thing up if I can’t find my highlighter first because I need it on almost every. single. page.

It’s not that it’s so deep that it’s hard to understand, it’s just . . . what’s the word . . . good? It’s simple, but it’s saturated with truth so that you just want to take your time and bask in each page. Last week I did a Madeleine L’engle quote post and I think I might make that a regular feature for awhile if you guys don’t find it annoying. What do you think?

TV:

nbc-community

I finally jumped on the Downton Abbey bandwagon and watched all three seasons in a few weeks. Sigh.

Also, Jeremy and I have gone back to the beginning of Community on Netflix. Oh, the funny.  Season 4 is such a disappointment so far. Not cool, cool, cool.

 Movies:

What are those?

Music:

I’m still holding strong with The Avett Brothers (the last three albums) and the newest Mumford and Sons. So there.

Food:

black bean quinoa

Black Bean Quinoa Burgers. The end. I’ll be blogging the recipe soon sometime over at Raising Hearty Boys.

Internet:

Pinterest!

Have you guys heard of this thing? It’s totally awesome! I finally, FINALLY, caught the Pinterest bug. I gave it an honest try once or twice before and truly didn’t get what all the fuss was about. But I finally caught up to the buzz and am all “Pin all the things!” This weekend I made a coffee board, bird board, and lego star wars board. I’m out of control.

But the only board I’m really “promoting” with any effort is my Parenting Board because I’ve revived the Parenting Wild Things Blog and am trying relatively hard to finish the second edition of the book before I die of old age.

And that’s about it, I reckon.  hopefulleighThat’s what I’m into. Head on over the Leigh’s place to see what she and others are into.

Enjoyed your linkup with Leigh this month! I am a huge fan of Madeleine and absolutely love seeing others discover her work who love it so too :). (I wrote a blog post about Walking On Water too :) Love the quote series–I’ve been wanting to do a series like that as well–so glad you’re doing them! :) Your blog is lovely–glad to have found it.

I started Walking on Water I don’t know how many months ago. I read maybe a few pages at a time because you are right: it so dense with goodness. I don’t want to rush it. How are you coping post-Downton Abbey? This past season was brutal.

    Glad you linked up!

Right? I never get more than a couple of pages ingested at the time.

Thanks for the linky. I found the button and everything!

I’m just starting Circle of Quiet….I have a library copy of the book, but am thinking I might want to buy my own copy. I don’t usually buy books until after I’ve read them! I’m weird like that.

The only Madeleine L’engle I’ve read was years ago – A Severed Wasp and A Small Rain. They were both excellent! I’ve been wanting to re-read them.
