Last week I was burning out – fast. Like, seriously losing my mind with kids and work and marriage and, ya know – life. So it was a huge relief to my soul when Friday rolled around. It was the very last day of the summer semester for that sexy linguist Husband of mine and the staff and students got together for a goodbye picnic.
It’s been a whirl-wind summer. It blows my mind that people are already talking as if it was over. (The school system back home started back 2 weeks ago, what the crap?) It still sort of feels like we just showed up on Canada front door step yesterday. Sigh.
Anyway, my one beautiful thing this week (technically last week, since it was Friday) is a creek crossing.
After the picnic we hit the trails a little and did some rock skipping and such. Instead of doubling back (um, because little people were already complaining about their feet being tired) Husband decided we should cross the shallow, cold, swiftly moving creek as a short cut. He then proceeded to brace himself on a couple of rocks and sort of heave the children to the other side. Good parenting, yes?
Anyway, the whole afternoon was just what I needed to help wiggle out of my funk. Fresh air and cold creek water on the feet are good for that.
I’m linking up with Brooke’s One Beautiful Thing this week. Check it out.
